ISLAMABAD: A committee on Balochistan comprising federal ministers and members of parliament presented to Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday its recommendations for improving the political, economic, administrative and law and order situation in the province.
Chairman of the committee Mian Raza Rabbani said it was now for the prime minister to decide whether to implement the recommendations in consultation with the stakeholders or to convene an all-party conference.
He told Dawn that the recommendations were comprehensive and covered all aspects of the problem.
The committee constituted by the prime minister last month studied several proposals and the report of a sub-committee headed by PML-Q’s Mushahid Hussain and the steps proposed by Senator Rabbani.
At a meeting, the prime minister was informed that the committee had prepared a set of comprehensive proposals to alleviate the sense of deprivation and bring Balochistan at par with other parts of the country. The meeting decided that the government would deliberate on the proposals and take all stakeholders on board before proceeding further.
