ISLAMABAD: The cabinet’s subcommittee on reinstatement of employees sacked between November 1996 and December 1998 has asked the affected people to report to their departments and resume work by August 13.
A meeting of the committee held here on Thursday decided that no reinstatement case would be considered after that date. Chairman of the committee Syed Khursheed Shah said the government was trying to solve the problem of sacked employees as soon as possible.
The meeting reviewed the cases of affected employees of Pakistan International Airlines, Zarai Tarqqiati Bank, Intelligence Bureau and regional tax offices of Hyderabad and Sialkot.
It was informed that 168 of the 305 sacked employees of PIA, 32 of 68 of ZTBL, 1,172 of 2,358 of IB and six of eight of FBR had already reported for duty.
Minister for Privatisation Naveed Qamar, Railways Minister Ghulam Ahmed Balour, Information and Broadcasting Minister Qamar Zamar Kaira and Housing and Works Minister Rehmat Ullah Kakar attended the meeting.
Defence secretary, senior vice-president of ZTBL, director-general of IB and FBR chairman represented their departments.
