LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday asked President Zardari to give away his powers of the 17th amendment to the parliament as a gift on Eidul Azha and fulfil his promises to the nation, including implementation of the Charter of Democracy (CoD).

Speaking to the media outside Lahore's Gulaab Devi hospital where he had gone to visit those under treatment, Shahbaz Sharif said not only should the beneficiaries of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) be brought to justice but all those who have had their loans written-off should return the nation's money.

Clarifying why the petition against NRO was withdrawn, Shahbaz Sharif said it was because of the principal stance of not accepting judges who had taken oath under the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO).

Meanwhile, he asked the government, especially President Zardari, to look towards the future starting with the implementation of the Charter of Democracy. — DawnNews
