KARACHI: Asad Shafiq and Wajihuddin struck unbeaten centuries as Karachi Blues drew their RBS Quaid-i-Azam Trophy National Cricket Championship’s Group ‘B’ match against Faisalabad at the National Stadium here on Thursday.

Asad, who has scored most runs (690) this season, continued his run spree by making 108 – the 22-year-old right-hander’s third century of the championship – while Wajihuddin scored an even 100 as the pair shared an unbroken sixth-wicket partnership of 177 on the final day of the four-day fixture.

Asad’s sparkling 203-ball knock featured 17 boundaries. Wajihuddin adorned his 178-ball innings with 14 hits to the fence before Karachi Blues opted to declare their second innings at 307-5.

Faisalabad, who had conceded a 41-run lead on the first innings, lost three quick wickets to Tariq Haroon before reaching 59 without further when the match ended.

All-rounder Tariq, who took a career-best 6-127 in 45 overs on Wednesday in a lion-hearted bowling performance after strike bowlers Mohammad Sami and Tanvir Ahmed were sidelined by injuries, finished with excellent match figures of 9-159.
