LAHORE: Azra Parveen, sacked consultant/advisor of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Women’s Wing, has claimed being summoned by Chairperson Shireen Javed at Gaddafi Stadium’s Gate No 5 on May 20 for a meeting that was later called off.
‘It was cancelled after I sent a letter to Shireen through my lawyer in which, he had termed the meeting ‘illegal’ as Shireen being a party to the case cannot conduct such meetings,’ Azra told Dawn on Saturday.
Shireen Javed, meanwhile, has denied having even called any such meeting where Azra and manager of the wing Ayesha Ashhar were asked to appear with herself and Director General Javed Miandad conducting the inquiry.
Azra has allegedly levelled serious allegations on Shireen and Ayesha in an audio recording on a well-known website that prompted Shireen to send her back to her parent department, the Punjab Sports Board, where she serves as deputy secretary.
The letter summoning the meeting on May 20 has been labelled as ‘fake’ by Shireen Javed, who also announced that she had to change her letter head after finding out that many of her writing pads had been stolen, too.
However, Azra said: ‘Shireen is wrong in saying that someone used her official writing pad as she has neither registered any case of theft nor has there been any inquiry to probe into any such kind of a case.’
‘If their writing pads have also been stolen by someone and are being misused too then both Shireen and Ayesha have no right to run this wing as how do they intend protecting the girls when they can’t even safeguard such small things,’ she said.
Azra also provided the envelope of a courier company, which handed her the letter about the meeting sent to her by the PCB.
