KARACHI: The Karachi Electric Supply Company has signed a five-year contract with Al-Abbas Sugar Mills Limited for purchase of 15MW electricity during the next five years from its coal-based power plant at Dhabeji. This will be the first coal-fired power plant connected to the KESC’s electricity generation network.
The contract was signed here at the KESC head office by the representatives of the two sides, said a KESC spokesperson on Monday.
According to the schedule, the commercial operations date is set for two months from now, though both sides agreed to speed up the process so that the power supply could be made available earlier in view of the growing electricity demand from the KESC consumers.
According to details, the Al Abbas Sugar Mills will be importing coal for using in the project.
The KESC, on the other hand, is working on more such agreements to enhance its power supply capacity.
