Young World

November 03, 2007

You must have heard people complaining “there’s so much to do but we don’t get the time for anything”, “don’t know how time flies, nothing gets done” or “there should be more than 24 hours in a day to complete the day’s chores”. You must have said similar things yourself; after all you are a part of this world – an important part – and feel the same way as others do.

But have you ever tried to take stock of what you actually do in the course of a day. You have 24 hours and just go to school, to a tuition perhaps, do your homework and play. Oh yes, I forgot, you have to chat with your friends too. And that perhaps is one thing that takes up a lot of your time. Please don’t think that I am against chatting; I am just against being involved in it all the time. The sms has made it all the more easier – you don’t even have to log in or go to the computer; the little device is in your hands all the time to keep your fingers moving. That is, if your parents have got you a cell phone. Personally I believe that cell phones should not be used by children before they turn at least 13, but that’s for the parents to decide.

Also, sometimes some of you get so busy with your other activities that you don’t even get time to finish your homework. Often you have to rush through it to save face in school, with little regard for quality of the work done. One has to realise that it is not the matter of shortage of time; it is just about managing your time. You just have to set your priorities, make a schedule of your activities and you will see that you have more time on your hands than you think.

Our cover story this week will give you some help in your endeavour to make the most of your time and have fun along with doing well in school.

See you next week.

Bye!

Ed
