Avril Lavigne is back with a bang! Or so we die-hard Avril fans thought at first, because for some, her new album titled ‘The Best Damn Thing’ comes across as a sad disappointment.
The album hits off with her chart-topping single “Girlfriend” which is one of my all-time favourites. The song is basically punk-rock, and does justice to Lavigne’s expertise of the genre. It has a very perky, dance-along feel to it, and leaves you in high spirits, which is more than what can be said about several other songs in the album, which, frankly speaking, are pretty bad e.g. “Hot”, “Contagious”, etc.
Some notable songs are “Keep Holding On”, which Avril wrote especially for the movie “Eragon”, and “When you’re Gone”, which has Avril’s signature rock feel to it.
Songs such as “I can do better” are as completely average, and on a scale from 1 to 10…would probably get a 3. Even the album’s title song “The Best Damn Thing” fails to impress. However, let no one be the judge for you, and check out the album yourself!
