Nothing like school days

By Rabia Syed

Ah! Two years have passed since I finished my schooling, but still miss it the most. Those were the best days of my life. Life is not so much fun as it was back then with no worries, and all that I had to care about was my grades and all that I was ever afraid of was my teacher’s scolding. I have never been a good kid from the beginning, always amongst the kids who used to get all the scolding from teachers. My friends of school days were my life; nothing was there that we did not share and that we are still today.

The library period was my most favourite not because I loved reading books but because that was the only time we could hide our faces behind our books and keep on chattering, and then there was the P.T. period. It surely was my favourite because I loved sports and after all that fun it was the break time. As soon as the bell rang, me and my friends rushed to the canteen. Back in the school days I was always making excuses to skip school, but my mum never believed me… he he he!

Time passed and it was the last year of my school life, as I remember it was a very small year though, maybe because we were most of the time having fun and enjoying every bit of it and then finally came my last day of school. Now that was an emotional moment; for once I thought that I am really going to miss all my friends, my teachers and all together my school.

Now when I look back to the sweet old days, I tell all the school going kids that make the most of this time. Never again will you have a place better than school, never will you find such great teachers who will love you like your parents and never will be the people around you who want you to flourish in your careers. Rather in the practical world there will be people who will leave no chance to betray you and rarely will you find a teacher who will hold your hand and show you the right path.

Our teachers surely deserve all the respect and dignity from us because they play a very important role in our success. I still remember how my Sindhi teacher helped me love the subject and due to her hard work and devotion, I still remember the poems I learnt then. And my English teacher encouraged me to participate in all the elocutions, plays and debates; and her dedication and efforts didn’t go to waste and the proof of it is that now I am able to write for an esteemed publication.

Never in my life will that time be ever back but I am just so very thankful to all my teachers for helping me and boosting my confidence that now I am able to achieve my goals.

So all those fellows out there! If you are still studying in school, enjoy it to the most. Love and respect your teachers, listen to what they say and trust me when you finish your school, you will probably have similar feelings as I have today.

Cheers!!
