A lesson to be learnt

By Sana Yasin

“Oh, yaar I can’t come to your place!” whined Alisa sadly.“But what’s the problem?” asked Sarah. “My mom is busy, so she can’t drop me to your place, though I really want to come,” replied Alisa.

Sarah was Alisa’s best friend and Sarah had invited Alisa at her place but Alisa’s mother was busy and she refused to drop her at Sarah’s place.

Alisa was already bored of staying at home and since she didn't know how to drive she was cursing the moment when she left her driving lessons in the middle. She had to leave the lessons because she had to go to Malaysia with her family. Suddenly a thought struck her.

“I know the basics of driving and Sarah’s home is not that far away from my house,” she said to herself.

She quickly changed her clothes, applied some lip gloss, tied her hair in a pony tail and took the car keys from the drawer. She reached the garage, looked here and there and started the engine. Initially she was driving fine as the road was smooth and there was no traffic. As she came on the main road, beads of sweat started to appear on her forehead.

She hadn’t realised that the main road would be crowded with so many cars coming from all directions. As she proceeded on this crowded road, a bus sped right next to her and she lost balance and the car hit a pole. Alisa was horrified because not only the car’s headlights were damaged but there was a large cut on her forehead.

People surrounded her car and asked where she lived. She told them her address and a kind man took her to the nearby clinic. Meanwhile someone had informed her mother about this accident so she also reached the clinic.

Her mother badly scolded her for doing such a horrible act. Alisa was very embarrassed and realised that unless one is perfect in driving one should never try to drive just for little fun.
