What are weekends for?

By Khunsha Fatima

Dear diary,

I haven’t been able to write to you eve on a weekend. But what could I do? I hardly get any free time. You would ask what I was busy doing as there was no school. I am sure if someone asks you the question: “What are weekends for?” you would surely say for enjoyment, for going to parks, visiting our relatives, to attend parties, for watching movies and for going to picnics. But you know what? You are absolutely wrong because we never go to parks, parties or friends on weekends. What we do is homework, homework and homework.

I am very upset to believe that our teachers who are more than our parents never treat us kindly in this regard. They don’t understand that after a long, tiring week in which we remain busy for all five days, in which we not only do class work but home assignments too, we need some rest.

We at this stage are not strong enough to hold this burden on our shoulders. I am not saying that don’t give us any homework but the teachers should also make sure that we have some time to play and have fun, too. So that we could enjoy with our parents we can give them something which they need from us — some time. We should spend a little time with our family, friends, neighbours and relatives.

I hope you all might be in favour of my views and if the teachers are reading this article so please, please try to make our dreams of enjoying the weekends come true.
