My Pakistan

By Shaheera Amin

We should really thank God that He blessed us with a beautiful country “Pakistan” and pray to God that He helps us to serve it in the best manner. Pakistan has been blessed with fertile agricultural land. The major reason of its fertility are the vast resources of water and the different seasons that the country bears. Here we find five major rivers — Indus, Chenab, Jehlum, Satluj, and Ravi. These rivers are considered the largest in the sub-continent. A good irrigation system also contributes to our booming agrarian economy.

Another blessing that make this country vibrant is the four seasons that we see within a year. Pakistanis are very lucky to enjoy all the four different seasons, i.e. summer, winter, spring and autumn. These seasons bring with them an assortment of fruits and vegetables as well as various other pleasures. Summer brings mangos, grapes, apricots, plums and cherries. Winter comes with oranges and dry fruits. One of the most memorable things in winter is the snow which envelopes the northern strip of Pakistan. Autumn adds a beautiful hue to the environment and spring brings with it boundless blossoms. Since Pakistan boasts of a great variety of farm produce we also improve our economy through its export. Livestock too is a blessing that is in abundance in Pakistan. Agricultural products also provide the base for our industrial development as textile, pesticides and poultry industries are operating very successfully in our country. Other industrial products such as sports goods too are very popular throughout the world.

A variety of birds and animals add to the beauty of the natural habitat in Pakistan. In northern areas we find the snow leopard that is a rare specie and a source of attraction for tourists.

The world’s second largest mountain K-2 is also found in Pakistan. The country is not void of desserts too as Cholistan and Thar form a warm rugged terrain, with their own beauty of nature.

Minerals resources are found in abundance too as Balochistan is known for its, salt, gold, iron, and marble and gas reserves. Sulphur, Steel, and Gypsum too are found in this area.

Besides this, we find Pakistan home to various ancient civilisations. Reserves such as Moen Jo Daro, Harappa and Gandhara are a great source of attraction for tourists.

When we look at our country we find that Pakistan is richly blessed, but we must come forward as a nation and work hard to better what we have. Aazadi Mubarak!
