Hi kids,

Summer vacation is almost over; in a week’s time most of you will be back in schools, sharing notes of what you did and where you went during the vacation. While some may have spent their time having fun with friends or visiting places, many spent their vacation well doing something constructive or helping others in their own small way. Some people believe that vacations are for fun and frolic and to relax after months of hard work at school, while others take it in a different way and considering it a break from routine they utilise the time in activities that would not only broaden their horizon but also be helpful to others and society at large.

This year round we saw a lot of children opting for community service. Many voluntary organisations also organised such activities that provided a chance to children to come out and see for themselves the harsh realities of life and the way the unprivileged class of the society lives and survives. Sitting in our cosy homes, busy in our day to day activities does not often allow us an opportunity to see and understand the problems others might be facing. It is when we go out in the community that we see the actual situation and then realise how tough life is for many people.

Then there are other concerns such as environmental and pollution problems that need our attention. We can all do our little bit to improve our surroundings and in turn the country at large. For instance, if we all decide not to throw trash in the street and not allow anyone to leave garbage in our neighbourhood the whole city will be clean. These are small things but as we know every little act counts.

Have a nice weekend.

Bye!

Ed
