Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, is a really fascinating city — a perfect place for tourists. The clean and green environment, the numerous beautiful places, and some of the world’s highest towers have made this city a major tourist attraction. The Bird Park, the Butterfly Park, the Menara Tower, the Sunway Lagoon Park, Mines Wonderland, Zoo Negara, and last but not the least, the famous Petronas Twin Towers are all there for you to enjoy. Some safari parks have attracted lots of people from different parts of the world. I will describe a few places which are a must to visit if you ever go there.
The Bird Park The Bird Park in Kuala Lumpur is a really beautiful place to visit with thousands of different kinds of birds, left open in a clean and green, natural environment with tall trees and lush green plants. A net is spread on top of the trees, so that the birds do not escape. There is a large variety of birds, of every size, from swans and flamingos to numerous parrots and humming birds. There are many strange types of birds with strange names (that I can’t remember). The place itself is so cool that we simply can’t help not litter over there.
The place I liked best was the “Photo Spot”, where you can have a picture taken with any bird you like. I’m not saying I liked it because I got the chance to have a picture taken of myself, but the reason I liked it was because among the birds were mischievous talking parrots who repeated exactly what I said. Really, those colourful parrots were a beauty. We also saw a huge pelican with its threatening beak, roaming around here and there in that area.
The Butterfly Park
This place is just located next to the Bird Park, and it is even more beautiful. Once you’ve entered, it seems as if you are in a fairy land, with bright coloured light green plants and trees, beautiful flowerbeds, small lakes with clean water where beautiful coloured fish swim and a huge variety of numerous butterflies of every colour, shape and kind fly here and there. Pineapple slices or flowers are placed on stands in some corners, so that you can actually see the butterflies sucking nectar out of those. This park is also fully covered with net on the top.
The SunwayLagoon Park
This place covers a large area, and there are many places inside it. Once you enter this place, you can find loads of things to do. The best part of it is ice skating, shopping and the water park. There is a wide variety of restaurants and shops here as well. There is also a part which is a stay hotel, and the other part contains a water park and thrill rides. The rides are really scary, fast and amazing, but even so, I think the water park was the best.
There are many kinds of slides of every size, and many kinds of pools, but the decoration part is the best. Artificial waterfalls have been made, from which the water rushes down into the pool, and many plants have been planted too. The pools are made fancy, for instance, some parts of the pool are covered by a spooky, head like cave, inside which there is a horror zone, with faces sticking out of the shadows, and water dripping from the roof. It’s really awesome, and I’d love to go there again some time.
Mines Wonderland
This place is so good! There are many things to do in there, and it is very nicely decorated with plants, and lots and lots of lightning, plus it is really very colourful. Statues are made out of bunches of coloured light bulbs. The thing which I like best about it is the magic fountain — along with the beat of the music, the colourful, well-lit water forms beautiful stunning patterns — pyramids, checks, zigzags, arches, you just name it! There is also the ice factory in which glamorous ice-sculptures have been made, from igloos to mermaids!
We were given warm things to wear, as the temperature was below 15ºC. The colours and light are the main things which make it so attractive.
Zoo Negara
The word ‘negara’ is a Malay word and it means ‘national’. It is a major zoological park in Malaysia located on 120 acres on the north-east of Kuala Lumpur. A tram takes you from one place to the other. The first thing that you see on entering is a beautiful, small waterfall flowing into a small stream where one finds beautiful fish of every kind and colour. Then there are the animals, giraffes, elephants, bulls, monkeys, lions, tigers, etc. It certainly was a neat place, with snack bars here and there and trams moving around to give you a lift. However, it was not as good as I thought.
The Petronas Twin Towers and theMenara Tower
These towers are really popular, so you must have heard something or the other about them. The Menara tower is a little taller than the Petronas Towers and the Petronas towers are the world’s tallest twin towers, making Kuala Lumpur a major tourist attraction.
They are mostly used for trading and business purposes, but we can also do some exploration there. I haven’t been inside them because we were stuck with what seemed like forever in those huge ticket lines, and due to some problem we weren’t able to go inside.
The twin towers look gorgeous any time, whether it is day or night. They simply sparkle with lights all the time. The towers feature a sky bridge between the two towers on 41st and 42nd floors. The bridge is 170m high and 58m long.
Menara Tower or KL (Kuala Lumpur) Tower is really good and great too. There are loads of things to do inside, especially exploring the whole city with those strong binoculars placed against the shiny glass panes.
We can watch attractive tour guides and videos of Malaysia, and have fun in the restaurants and shop.
So, if you ever get the chance to go to Malaysia, which I hope you will, make sure you check out each of the previously mentioned sites. Best of Luck!
