Hear this: a group of children had gathered in the playground waiting for one of their friends to join them so their team was complete and they could begin their play. Since the summer vacation had begun they had ample free time, most of which they would spend playing outdoors. Their parents often told them not to play in the sun, as it was not good for their health but they would not listen. They would not even take care, and buy things to eat or drink from the thelas without any consideration for hygiene. They were just out to have fun.
After waiting for some time they went to the friend’s house to check why he had not come. They were told that the boy was not well and would not be able to join them. His mother was quite upset. The doctor had told her that her son had fallen ill because he had been out in the heat for long hours and had been consuming unhygienic food. She knew what the boys had been up to and had often advised her son to be careful. Now she called all the friends inside and explained to them the perils of having food that is left open and visited by flies, and drinking unclean water.
In this hot weather it is important that only clean water which has been carefully boiled or filtered is used. Likewise, you should take care not to eat anything that has been left uncovered, not prepared in clean environment, or fruit that is over-ripe. It is preferable to eat home-cooked food, fresh fruit and vegetables that have been washed properly, and to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
Surely, nobody wants to spend the holidays lying sick in bed.
