The boys were arguing again. It was not that they were in the habit of arguing over trivial issues but since they were close friends and supported each other in everything, they were often found engaged in hot discussions which sometimes turned into arguments.
It wasn’t a serious issue but somehow one of them was not ready to understand. There was to be a debate competition and the friend wanted ‘A’ to participate, while ‘A’ was not ready saying that the topic was not of his interest and he would not be able to prepare in the given time. But‘B’ was of the opinion that if ‘A’ tried he would do it as he believed that nothing was impossible in the world. If a person has faith in his capabilities, ‘B’ insisted, he can do anything he wants.
A few days later at the competition ‘A’ emerged as one of the winners and his speech was praised by all. He later admitted that though he feared that he would not be able to pull it off, when he set his mind to it he did not find it very difficult. He did have to take help from books and the Internet but then a speech cannot be prepared without solid information and the chosen topic must be thoroughly understood.
He then realised that once a person makes up his mind that he has to do something, and that if others can do it why can’t he do it, then it is easy to achieve the goal. The important thing is setting goals and having faith in oneself. Just tell yourself that you can do it and you will see that you will be able to do it. Try it.
