MUSIC: Jesse Mccartney

By Sameen Salman

Jesse McCartney is an 18- year-old singer and an actor. His first album Beautiful Soul was fared well and now he is back with his new album Right Where You Want Me. This second album is based on 20 tracks.

The album kicks off with a fast and cheery song “Right Where You Want Me.” This song is unique because of its beat and lyrics. The beat energises the youth power in you and makes you want to dance to the beat. The lyrics, however, are not as impressive but they convey the song’s message clearly to the listener.

This album is mainly based upon a boy’s feeling about a girl. Some songs are really expressive like “Blow Your Mind” and “Can’t Let You Go.” Both these tracks are fun to listen to anytime in any mood. Then there are some really sad songs in which a boy is trying to convey his feelings to the girl he loves. Songs like “Tell Her” or “Anybody” are most likely to be called really emotional.

By listening to both the albums my personal opinion is that Jesse is improving his vocals but the message of the songs should be a little different from each other.

So this album is better than his previous one. That doesn’t mean that the first album was not good. The major flaw of this album is that it’s a kind of album that only teenagers can enjoy and understand; it’s not an album for older people.

Thus we can say that Jesse only sings for the teen generation of this world and all his songs convey the same thing. So Jesse McCartney desperately needs to bring variety in his song lyrics. Despite its flaws this album is zestful, attention-grabbing and fun to listen to.
