Hi kids!

A friend was distraught. Her teenaged niece had been telling her for a long time how she should dress, criticising everything from her clothes to the accessories. The friend, who considered herself quite up to date in her own way where fashion was concerned, tried to tell the girl about her preferences. But the niece crossed all limits when in one of her moods, she called her outdated and old-fashioned.

It was then that the aunt decided to have a heart-to-heart talk with the girl. She explained to her that each fashion or style is meant for a specific age group. What suits a teenager may not necessarily be appropriate for a grown-up person in her middle age. Some people do not think of these things and adopt any and every thing in the name of fashion without considering whether it would suit them or not.

And this is not just for older people. It is true for children and teenagers as well. For instance, if a twelve-year-old girl starts wearing heavy make-up, fit for a model, wouldn’t it look odd? Everybody would criticise her for that and some might even ask her to go and wash her face.

The point is that whatever you do – from what you wear to the way you walk, talk and behave in public – has to be in sync with your age and tyour surroundings. Of course, your personal preferences do count. For example, if you do not like wearing jeans and prefer shalwar suits, you are under no compulsion to do otherwise just because your peers are doing it. It can be tricky maintaining your style while moving with the world but it’s not impossible. A lot of people are doing it. You just have to learn the trick.

See you next week!

Bye!

Ed
