MOVIE: Happy feet
There was quite a buzz surrounding Happy Feet as it toppled the big names including Casino Royal to grab the top slot in box office charts in its first week of release. And many wondered what’s in this penguin movie which has made it such an instant hit. Guess what, it’s not a penguin movie, it’s a penguin world!
The animated show takes you to Emperor land, where penguins rule. Still not disturbed by the exploration of humans (aliens!), penguins lead their lives in their very own style…musically, romantically, and conservatively. Every penguin is born with a heart song, which guides that living soul in its life and most importantly assists in finding the ‘true love’. But things are not that ‘penguinish’ for little Mumbo, who can’t sing. Instead he is a stunning tap dancer, but ‘it just ain’t penguin’. And Gloria, Mumbo’s love, has the most stirring and melodic voices of all.
Cast aside by his own, due to his unnatural ways, Mumbo is intrigued by the presence of other beings in this world, the aliens! And finding the company of a cool gang of penguins, Adelie Amigos, he goes on a quest to unravel the mysteries, a quest which no penguin has ever dared to think.
Involving the voices of Nicole Kidman (Mumbo’s mom), Hugh Jackman (the dad) and Brittany Murphy (Gloria), the movie was destined to be exciting, but it’s the Latino Adelie Amigos who steal the show. Their witty dialogues, humorous numbers are not only enough to make the movie captivating but also bestowing the movie with a mature touch so it’s not only a treat for kids. The soundtrack of Happy Feet has already made its way to the top in many channel charts.
There can be many reasons to watch Happy Feet but every aspect is so solid that even one reason seems enough.
