BOOK: Monster Dog

By Madeeha Rahim

Hey, all you dog lovers! All those gals ‘n’ guys who want to own a dog first read the book Monster Dog written by R. L. Stine. The story is about a girl Maggie who is about to turn 12. She, along with her little brother, Peter, who is eight years old, lives with their parents. Maggie loves going to school, loves to study, but hated walking home alone because there is a big, ugly and mean dog (Bullhead) which lives in her street and is waiting for her every day. It frightens her and has even bitten her sometimes. The dog belongs to a boy Billy who lives next door to Maggie's house and is Maggie’s age and studies in Maggie’s class.

He has trained his dog to frighten and bully Maggie and he tells her that if she does his homework, his dog will not frighten her any more. She is so tired of all this bullying that she requests her parents to buy her a killer dog for her 12th birthday. But on her birthday she realises that the dog her parents brought home was not the dog she had selected in the pound. The dog she gets is a small puppy called Poocher which cannot protect her from Bullhead. Despite this she starts loving Poocher very much. But then Poocher changes —he is much bigger. His soft fur changes into pointed, sharp bristles and to top it all her dog has red, glowing evil eyes and deadly fangs. Now who will save Maggie from Poocher.

Read the whole story yourself because after reading this book, you will have second thoughts of buying a mean dog for yourself.
