Hi kids!

We mostly say that time flies and we never get to know when one year ends and the other begins. But for some people time just lingers on or at the most crawls by. This is mostly so when you are caught up in some problems or adverse circumstances. Look at the people who were affected by last October’s earthquake that resulted in the death of more than 73,000 people in Kashmir and the North West Frontier Province.

A year on, people who lost their loved ones, their homes and their belongings, are still struggling to come to grips with their loss and to start life anew. Many are still homeless, living in temporary shelters; life for them is a daily struggle. But the good sign is that they haven’t given up hope; the will to overcome all difficulties and to move on is evident.

Efforts are being made for their rehabilitation. Besides providing them with basic amenities of life like food, clothing and shelter, makeshift schools have been established so that the children can continue with their studies. Going to school is also a way to overcome one’s grief and sorrow. Each day you have something to look forward to, make new friends and remember old ones. Life has to go on and one must not sit back and shed tears over one’s loss, though the departed loved ones always remain in one’s heart and soul.

When the tragedy struck the whole country united in the efforts to help the victims and relief work on a massive scale was carried out. Though it’s a year since then, these people still need our help. We must not forget them and continue to do whatever possible to make their lives easy.

Let’s pray that no such catastrophe ever strikes again.

See you next week!
Bye!

Ed
