A friend is someone you like and trust. Most of the secrets which you cannot even tell your parents or your brothers and sisters are shared by your friends. But when something goes wrong between friends and no attempt is made to resolve the dispute, that same friend might turn against you and you may never know until all the damage is done.
The same happened with me once. I had a friend, Ayesha; we were together since kindergarten. Over the years we became best of friends. We went to the same school and same college and had the same subjects. But when we reached university, time went against us. She soon started to hang out with the wrong type of girls and boys. She started bunking classes and roam around the streets teasing people.
I tried to tell her that her friends are gangsters but she paid no attention to whatever I said. In return she betrayed me, and told all my secrets to my class fellows. They all teased me and I felt very disgraced. But even then, I remained a true and devoted friend.
But things started to get even worse, she started cheating in exams. She cheated in every test and exam and she never got caught. The bond of our friendship which was as strong as a brick wall started to become weak as time went on.
Time passed and soon it was time for our final exams. This was our last chance to show the hard work which we had done throughout the year. All the exams went well except the last one, which was mathematics.
Ayesha was always weak in maths. So she made a list of all the formulas and hid it inside her socks. As soon as the paper started she took that list out and accidentally the paper flew on the floor and landed right in front of me. Thinking that it was Ayesha’s question paper, I bent and picked it up. The examiner saw me and snatched the paper from my hand. He saw that it contained all the formulas. Then he looked between Ayesha and me, as Ayesha was sitting right in front of me. She immediately said that she was innocent and that I was the culprit. The examiner agreed and took my answer sheet and wrote a big zero and ordered me to leave the hall.
After that Ayesha didn’t even feel sorry for me and we did not even see each other. After that day I found it difficult to trust a person and am afraid to make friends.
