One day I went to the supermarket and made my way to the electronic section as I wanted to buy a camera for my sister. Walking towards the section I was looking around when my eyes fell on a boy. The boy looked to his right and left furtively and quickly stuffed a perfume bottle in his pocket. I was shocked when he turned around and I saw his face. He was Ziyan, my classmate, who I knew belonged to a very noble and rich family.
While he made his way to the exit door I followed him. To my surprise a few other class fellows who belonged to his group were also there and that perfume was now in the hand of another friend and he was patting Ziyan’s back. I went closer to meet Ziyan and the other friends. They were very happy to meet me as I left school when I was in class VIII due to my father’s posting.
I inquired from Ziyan why he stole the perfume from the supermarket. There was no look of panic on his face. He smiled and said; “It was a bet!”
I was shocked that for only a bet he stole a perfume. I asked Ziyan to put back that perfume but he refused and invited me to come along. Ali, another boy in the group, was taking them all for lunch because he had lost the bet. Ali also insisted but I refused and said that I will not be part of a celebration for a successful theft mission. All of them started laughing and making fun of what I had said so I just left quickly.
The next day I discussed what had happened with my parents; my father suggested that I should talk to Ziyan about not repeating such an act in the future. I called Ziyan and invited him to my home. But he sadly informed me that his car was stolen while they were having lunch the day before. He was also feeling ashamed of his act and he told me that he had put back that perfume last night.
I felt very happy that he finally learnt his lesson. May Allah show all of us the right path.
