Amber had just completed her intermediate from Karachi and wanted to go abroad. She had no love for her country; she only wanted to leave Pakistan. Her parents didn't want to go because they loved Pakistan. Amber didn't understand the seriousness of the matter. She only wanted to go abroad. Her impressions were drawn from the films that she watched which only showed good points. But she didn't realise the kind of problems that she would have to face in a land that was not her own.
As Amber's father was well-to-do he managed to send her abroad. She was told that she would stay at her aunt’s place for a month and then she could decide whether she wished to pursue her studies there or whether she wished to come back and study here.
They knew that Amber would never like that place and doing so she could take the right decision without wasting any time. Amber believed that by leaving Pakistan she could leave behind its poverty and the problems that are faced by its citizens. Little did she realise that the citizens especially the youth have the power to change the conditions of the country that they are living in.
Anyway Amber decided to go abroad. She was very happy when she landed and was excited about the dreams that she had associated with this new land of her choice. She went to explore the place with her cousins. She enjoyed herself the first few days but then she was reminded of the fact that she would have to take up a job in order to pay her fees and manage other expenses, as her parents had sent her and only paid for her admission. When she started looking for a job it dawned upon her that most people who had migrated were involved in menial jobs. They had shunned white-collared jobs in their homeland to sweep the floors in the land of their choice.
Amber realised that her parents were right. She asked her aunt why she was living there. She said that it was her greatest mistake to decide to settle, and here now since her children don’t want to leave she is compelled to stay. She also told Amber to go back and feel proud of her country.
You can make your country great. Only be united and convince others to stay there and struggle there to make living conditions better. People come here and live the worst life possible. It’s mere survival. Amber decided to go back home and continue her studies there. Her parents were really happy.
When Amber reached Pakistan she was a changed person. She had a new aim in life which was to see Pakistan a developed country.
The whole family celebrated August 14 with great fervour and pledged to make Pakistan great.
