There are few artists who are famous in their own way. They are all-rounders as they sing, produce, compose quite magnificently but yet are not attracted by the limelight which every artist dies for. To say Counting Pharrell William is one of them wouldn’t be any injustice. Though ‘In my Mind’ is his debut solo album, Pharrell has done two albums with N.E.R.D. earlier.
From the first bar of Can I have it like that, it is clear that ‘In My Mind’ is not going to disappoint. How does it will, showcases Pharrell’s enthralling vocals while the production on this rap jam is out of ordinary. Another solo offering is Angel, is an R’n’B love ballad.
The album features many superstar guest appearances. Nelly makes his presence felt in the track entitled Baby, which follows a hip hop beat with an average opening but it grows on more with the backing of electric and bass guitars. This track surely makes you hit the dance floor. Jay Z features in Young Girl, a stunning upbeat number. What you expect from Pharrell and Snoop Dog collaboration? Funky lyrics, a killer bouncy beat, etc. That girl has it all; in fact, it sounds a lot like the chart topper Drop it like it’s hot. A big thumbs up!
Keep it playa sees Pharrell joining voices with Slim Thug in a splendid drum influenced vibe. Number one is at the tail end of the album having Kanye West on vocals with Pharrell. This track is the most played number on the music channels and is sizzling up the charts.
As the album draws to a close you don't really want it to stop, which is the sign of brilliance. Some excellent classy tunes, superstar appearances make ‘In My Mind’ worth your money.
