Well, I guess everyone has seen the 2002 hit movie, Ice Age, of which this is a sequel. The movie, directed by Carlos Saldanha, has a little more spotlight on Manny, the sober woolly (Ray Romano) instead of Sid, the witty sloth (John Leguizamo) or the mysterious sabre-toothed tiger Diego (Denis Leary). And we get to know more about the inside character of Manny who thinks that he is the last mammoth of the ice age.
The story line: this odd herd has been living in the Ice Age for quite some time but sadly, the ice is going to melt and a flood will cover the valley in which they are living. So they will have to migrate. Ice Age 2: The Meltdown is all about the twists and turns they face and the new characters they meet. The new guests who have joined the pack are: a female mammoth named Ellie (voice over by Queen Latifah), who has two possum brothers -- Crash (Sean William Scott) and Eddie (Josh Peck). Another twisting part of this prehistoric entertainer is that the female mammoth, Ellie, thinks she is a possum as well because she was brought up by the two possums. This seems a little odd but in a children’s flick, everything is possible.
Another surprising twist which appears in the film is that our witty sloth gets what he wanted, that is “RESPECt”. But how? Well, Sid comes across a tribe of sloths who give him all the value and respect. There are a lot of witty and funny moments in this movie to remember. A number of new creatures have been added to movie, but you will get to feast your eyes on them only when you actually see this movie. In short, this movie is as smooth as ice which will get you into a humorous mood for sure. So, what are you waiting for? Go to your nearest video shop and start watching this flick.
The movie has broken the mindset of people that sequels cannot survive and has instead proved that they can be an even bigger hit flick.
The movie is rated PG because of some mild language and innuendo.
