The boy seemed to be in a really bad mood. He could not understand why he scored low on the test when he understood all the questions and had written lengthy answers. He just put all the blame on the teacher, saying that the teacher disliked him and never gave credit to his work.
On his insistence his father asked the teacher to show him the child’s test paper. He found out that though the boy had answered the questions correctly, he had done his work very carelessly, making too many mistakes. At many points the teacher was not able to make sense of what the student was trying to say. And it was for this reason that he received fewer marks.
This often happens. You know your subject well but while taking exams you do not take adequate care and make unnecessary mistakes which lower the quality of your work. Always remember that even things which you consider minor, like proper punctuation and tenses, do matter even in science subjects; if you think that the rules of grammar apply only to languages, you are wrong. If you are careless in this respect, you will suffer the consequences in the form of low grades, because simple errors sometimes distort the whole meaning of your write-up.
Another thing that you have to keep in mind is that teachers do not dislike any student or give fewer marks for no reason. In a teacher’s eyes all students are equal. He/she may appreciate the ones who are more hardworking, or rebuke the trouble makers, but does not dislike anyone. But if you think that some students are in the teacher’s good books, you can join them through hard work and good conduct.
