Former secret agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is now living a quiet and peaceful life along with Julia (Michelle Monaghan), his fiancée. But his peaceful life is interrupted when one night a new mission arrives to rescue an ex-colleague, Lindsey (Keri Russell), who has been kidnapped by a sadistic and dangerous weapons dealer, Owen Davain (Philip Seymour Hoffman).
But there’s a catch, Julia doesn’t know that Ethan is a secret agent, and in order to accept this mission, Ethan must spin a web of lies. Things do not go well with the rescue, and Ethan ends up going to Vatican City in search of Owen. Brassel (Laurence Fishbourne), the agency director, puts Ethan in charge of another mission, to locate a deadly weapon, known as “Rabbit’s Foot”. So Ethan, with the assistance of his former partner, Luther (Vingh Rames), and new accomplices, Zhen (Maggie Q) and Declan (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), go from Rome to Shanghai to complete his mission before it’s too late.
MPAA: Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of frenetic violence and menace, disturbing images and some sensuality.
