MUSIC: American Jugni

Even with all the hype about releases from the big boys Jassi Sidhu and Sukhshinder Shinda, Bikram Singh stole the spotlight. Sidhu and Shinda both have had their release dates pushed back.

For those who aren’t familiar with this young man, he had an earlier release last year entitled “Exclusives” which had a couple smash hits such as Taakre and Munday Bhangra Paunday. With the help of Tigerstyle behind the beats, Bikram Singh got down dirty and delivered a hot and fresh bhangra album. The first track entitled, American Jugni has got lyrics that keep you humming all the way to work and all the way back home! The second track is the hottest track on the planet in Kawan feat Gunjan. Now, it’s not anywhere near a bhangra track, but listen to it and you won’t be disappointed. The entire album is jam-packed with catchy beats and lyrics that will be clogging up your mind for days to come. My personal favourite, which should explode at a party near you, is Kushian De Dhol which is the next coming of Kushian by the mastermind Sukhshinder Shinda.

There was one fault that bothered me a bit on the album. For all you true bhangra fans out there, you must all be familiar with the track by Bikram Singh entitled Chaklo Gandasay from the album “Pure Desi Vol 01”. Tigerstyle remixed the track on American Jugni, but guess what, it’s terrible! The rap has got to go. Boys you would have hit the public hard with this album without that remixed track. If they would have simply thrown on the original, it would have made the album complete. With that said, Bikram Singh and Tigerstyle get a solid 8.5 out of 10. Fawaz Mirza
