POETS’ CORNER

Mysterious man

Do you know the man
Who flies here and there?
Saving people from trouble,
So he feels a little low,
After a great work,
When he goes home,
He feels a little tired,
So drinks a cup of tea,
Feels a little sleepy,
So he goes to sleep,
Do you know who that man is?
He is yours truly,
Super Man.
Uzair Amin,
13 years old, Karachi.

Make a wish

Make a wish
Make it grand
Make it as big as you can stand
Make it loud make it strong
Make it up as you go along
Make a difference make a mark
Make your own creative spark
Make a statement, make it true
Make it from the heart that belongs to you
Make yourself some breathing space
Make a scene, make a face
Laugh and play
Have a good day
Make a promise make new friends
Make it work make it go
Make it yes instead of no,
Make some music make some noise
Make a list of simple joys.

My childhood days

How beautiful were those charming days
The only grief of the broken toys
Worries or tension no, not at all
Just watching cartoons and wandering always
Not to work but play all the time
And ignoring all what the elder says
Scoring good marks then show to all
And getting happy when all they praise
Not to worry for the marks and grades
But have to stand first in the race
Littering and throwing things here and there
Then shouts of mom “who did this mess?”
In angry mood when dad use to call
Then say at once “Oh God bless”
Sitting alone under the shed of tree
Remembering all my childhood days.

Allah — the eternal, the absolute...

Who is eternal, who sustains
Who has 99 beautiful names
Who is the Creator and the supreme being
Who is the one always seeing?
If we do a sin, or a deed
If we share, or if we’re full of greed
Who is the one that will never die
He’s divine, unlike you and I
He’s our lord, who’s awake day and night,
He brings us dark and brings us light
He is Allah, our Almighty Master
He puts food in our hands
And from us He never demands
He can make us poor or make us wealthy
Or make us weak or very healthy
He decides our birth and our last day,
He knows what we will do, or what we will say
He made this world from a speck of sand
And on earth, He has made water and land
He makes all wise decisions
He can make us crippled or have no vision
Allah, O Allah!
He is unique
His help is what we all seek.
