Dolly admitted her mistake

By Shumaila Abdul Rauf

Dolly was a very naughty and mischievous girl. She always used to hurt everyone. She had been a stubborn child since her childhood. She had a little brother and sister too but they were not as naughty as she was. She was very fat and was fond of eating chocolates and different junk foods. She always used to fight with her class mates. Her mother used to call her a Baby Elephant in her childhood. Her grandma who was called “Mum” by all the children was very kind and generous. She would gather children and tell them stories. In her stories children always learnt a lesson. But as Dolly was so naughty she didn’t like Mum because she thought that Mum should not give them any advice and should mind her own business.

One night dolly went to her friend’s home and came back very late. When she came back her grandma asked her why she was late. To this she replied, “Oh, Mum, we were enjoying ourselves and having fun that’s why I couldn’t take care of time”.

Mum said “It’s ok baby but next time be careful, Ok!”

Dolly said, “Hey Mum I didn’t ask you to give me a lecture, Ok!”

Mum said “Oh, my dear Dolly, you should listen to me, I want you to be a good girl”.

Dolly didn’t listen to her grandma and left the room in a rash manner. The next day when Dolly’s mother got to know what happened the previous night, she scolded Dolly for misbehaving with her grandma. But now things were out of her control because as a child whenever Dolly would misbehave with anyone, her parents would would not scold her; rather they said how confident their daughter was. Dolly was getting more stubborn day by day. And now she had started fighting with her little brother and sister as well. Her attitude with everyone was so rude and she did not have a good friends’ circle.

One day when Dolly wanted to go to the picnic with her friends to the sea, her grandma refused to allow her to go alone but she argued and misbehaved with Mum, who told Dolly not to do so because it was not good for her. But she did not understand and went with her friends.

At the sea while Dolly was enjoying the water with her friends, she went in deep and began to sink. When she called her friends for help none of them helped her. In fact, they left her screaming and left the beach. In the evening when Dolly did not come home, her mother called at her friends’ and asked for Dolly but no one told what exactly happened there.

At night a woman, who had rescued Dolly when she was sinking, brought Dolly home and told them the whole situation. Dolly was very embarrassed. She admitted her mistake and promised Mum that she would not misbehave with anyone ever again, love her younger siblings and listen to her elders. i
