There once lived two girls who, though nice and friendly, had a very bad habit. They would want to know all what others were doing, where they were going and what any two people sitting together were talking about. As soon as either learnt something about someone she would call the other friend and the two would discuss the issue and then try to get more information, even if they had to resort to eavesdropping, or would spread whatever they knew (even if it was unconfirmed), after embellishing it, to their class fellows.
They would not even hesitate to fabricate stories and tell them to others to malign someone. When asked why they did that they would deny any involvement and feign innocence. Gradually the whole school got to know about them and people started to avoid them. They not only lost their friends but also their reputation became tarnished. But perhaps they didn’t realize this and their habit grew stronger as time passed.
After completing their education they incidentally joined the same organization and there too they continued with their old habit. The result was obvious. They could not make many friends. Those who learnt of their tricks maintained a distance, while some even went to the extent of warning those new to the organization to stay aloof from them. Soon the time came when they found themselves isolated.
Dear readers, you must have guessed the reason for telling this story. You are wise and intelligent and should learn lessons from such stories. You’ll find many people like these two around you; it is better to stay away from them because friendship with them means inviting trouble, as they are not even sincere with friends.
