BOOK: The magic continues...

Yet another feast for the fans of Harry Potter manifested by David Colbert to know better the world of magic and wizards.

Since the immense popularity of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series invaded the world, almost every language has translated her books. Not only are her books spellbinding, but are full of references from literature, history, mythology, folklore and legends that are not easy to decipher by non-native readers themselves.

The Magical Worlds of Harry Potter (second edition) decodes Rowling’s clues to reveal the artfully hidden meaning. From Alchemists to Unicorns and Basilisks to Phoenix the book is an indispensable guide for the reader to reveal another dimension of the Harry’s world.

David Colbert’s book is a marvellous piece of research as the references of history and myths are given along with the excerpts of literature on the margin.

The book is beautifully illustrated describing mythological characters and historic figures. Related subjective explanations on other pages are also carefully mentioned by the author that keeps the reader inter-linked with the particular object. This revised edition covers all of Rowling works except the sixth part Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince.

Table of contents and the name of chapters are carefully chosen that keep reader glued to the book till the end. It compares Harry with other universal heroes and mentions the origin of spells, charms and curses. Colbert explains that ‘Crucio’ means I torture; ‘Imperio’ means I command and ‘Accio’ means I summon.

The names of characters in Harry’s magical world have not been chosen randomly these names have meanings and some reference (historic, myths or legends), Colbert finds out the reason why the character is given a particular name, what history says and what relation it has with myths and much more?

Where does magic come from? Why do wizards use wands? Why are mirrors magical? Why would chocolate help after escaping a Dementor? All these important questions asked by Potter fans have been answered in this book with great clarity.
