Superbly illustrated, masterly compiled and brilliantly printed where each picture speaks for itself, Manfred Leier’s 100 Most Beautiful Cities of the World is a journey through the finest cities like New York, Paris, London, Moscow, Cairo, Lahore, Delhi, etc. All important places in these cities are, in this astounding pictographic guide, displayed in splendid colour photographs while described in text so luminously that it will take you on an unforgettable trip around the world!
All the 100 cities in this book have one thing in common — their history — which is aided by explicitly researched material available on every page. Two pages have been allotted for each of the cities, providing all information required by a tourist. From Lisbon to Cape Town, Amsterdam to Dubai, Helsinki to Havana, Florence to Kyoto, all are covered equally and correctly.
Facts and information like ‘Special tips’ (meaning something that a tourist or potential tourist doesn’t know about the city), ‘eating and drinking’ (about hotels and restaurants), ‘getting there’ (about how to reach the place or in simple words, about airport), accommodation (about hotels, of course), best time to visit (best to-tour time, month wise), souvenirs (about what to buy and what not to), festivals (about religious and cultural gatherings) and minor information such as tipping, market, excursions and gastronomy make this a wonderful read.
Found mostly in hardback and somewhat costly if you are thinking of buying it, I would still say that if you are a book collector, go for this one as it is a must buy for all — those who want to see the world and those who don’t as it will change your view of the world and its cities, forever!
