Story Time: Strange Reflection

By Hira Fatima

Sara was a very beautiful girl. She belonged to a rich family. She had no brother and sister that is why her parents loved her a lot. As she was very beautiful, she was proud of her beauty and thought that she is the world’s most intelligent and good looking person and due to this she can do whatever she wants.

One day while standing in front of the mirror and trying out the latest designer dress, she realized that something was strange in the mirror. Suddenly her reflection came out of the mirror. At first she was shocked but then she asked the reflection, “Why did you come out of the mirror?” The reflection said: “You have to find out the reason yourself and when you do I will go back to my place.”

Sara was very happy she didn’t have to do the work she didn’t like because her reflection did whatever Sara didn’t want to do. She realized that everyone was happy with her reflection because her reflection was very good and kind. It always helped people and took care of everyone. Sara thought that she was very good as her reflection was very good. One day Sara thought “Maybe it has come to show me that I am a very good person”. Sara felt more proud.

One day when Sara was watching her favourite movie, she heard her new maid calling from downstairs “Sara come downstairs I have made butter sandwiches”. Sara had never liked butter sandwiches, as the maid was new she didn’t know about that. But “YIPPEEEEEEE…!” her reflection cried in joy and started running downstairs. Sara became confused she didn’t understand the reason why the reflection was happy, as Sara had never liked butter sandwiches.

Then suddenly she realized that it was actually her REFLECTION and was doing everything opposite to Sara. On realizing this she closed her eyes and started thinking how bad and rude she was. She had never done any good deed as her reflection did. She promised herself that she would change and would never be rude to anyone again.

She came out of her thoughts as she heard her maid again calling from downstairs “Sara! Why have you left half of your sandwich?” Confused, she opened her eyes, on opening her eyes she realized that her reflection was back in the mirror and had taken its place. Sara had found the answer.
