I entered the supermarket and made my way to the cosmetics section. I had to get that new lip-gloss. I strode along the racks eyeing all the cosmetics. I found the lip-gloss I was looking for. I picked it up and made my way back towards the counter. It was then that I saw a well dressed lady picking up item after item from the racks and depositing them neatly into her hand bag I was shocked the lady did not look at all like a shop-lifter but then again looks can be deceiving.

The lady had no idea that I had seen her. She made her way to the exit I followed her when she was about to walk through the exit door. I told the man on the counter that the lady had stolen goods from the cosmetics section . The man looked at me and went after the lady. The lady looked at the man inquiringly. The man said that this girl is accusing you of theft.

There was no look of panic on the lady’s face; she looked at me sternly and said that I was a really bad girl accusing innocent people for stealing. Then she turned to the man and said that she felt very insulted at this behaviour and that she was rich enough to buy these things and that she had no reason to steal them. I was shocked but I told the man that he should search her handbag. At this the lady became furious; she said that they had no right to treat her this way, she knew her rights and she would not let them search her hand bag just because a little girl had said that she had stolen some goods.

To my surprise the man turned to me and scolded me and said that I had no respect for elder people and told me to stop lying and apologize to the lady at once. I was outraged. The man apologized to the lady and ushered her to the door. I just looked at them, completely lost for words.

When the man returned I told him that he has made a big mistake by letting that lady go and that I was not lying. So what if I am young that does not mean that I should not be taken seriously. “I’m telling the truth if you don’t believe me check your goods on the racks and here is your lip-gloss I was gong to buy it but now I have changed my mind,” I said in an enraged tone. Having said that I walked out of the exit.

Boy, what justice! The question in my mind was that why didn’t he believe me just because I was young. But then I thought that man would learn his lesson and learn it well for that matter when he finds some expensive cosmetics missing from the rack and from then onwards he’ll start taking young people seriously.

By the way I got that lip-gloss as a present from my aunt I guess everything happens for a reason if that incident hadn’t taken place. I would have bought that lip-gloss from my own money. I got my reward from God because he knew I was telling the truth.
