Well. First things first -– the chat is hardly a place where you can judge people, specially those of your age. So, let’s ignore what the boy you’re telling me about is like. Besides, I seriously doubt if he is “different from others” — that’s just a famous one-liner people more than often type on chat to describe themselves. However, what you have written to me about isn’t a problem at all.
You’re a sensible girl and you know your limitations well. So relax. As long as you don’t get carried away with strangers and disclose personal information like home address or phone number, and play things safe, chat is okay. Also, make sure you don’t get addicted to this thing and always keep your studies first. Not need to get all hyped up about nothing.
Dear Super Sis.
I am a 13-year old girl. My problem is that I want to get tall. My height is five feet. I have 3-4 years to grow tall. All the girls in my class are taller than me. Can you please tell me a good diet and some methods of getting tall?
Worried Pisces.
Before I actually discuss your “problem”, you must first understand that height is more an inherited characteristic rather than something which can be altered with diet. Your genes determine how tall you will be eventually, and there is little one can do about it. Girls’ height continues to grow until they are eighteen. That leaves you a good five more years to grow, and a height of five feet at 13 is not bad at all. Teenagers tend to shoot up around this very age. Take a look around you. How tall are your mom and your close blood relatives? Chances are your height will be more or less as theirs.
In the end, no matter what your height is what counts most is that you should grow in a healthy manner, and your diet and physical activity determine how healthy you are. At your age, your bones are growing rapidly as are other parts of your body. You need lots of nutrition and vitamins and minerals to cater to your body’s various needs …and lots of water of course. So stick to a well-balanced diet. Eat loads of fresh fruit and vegetables, healthy meat and carbohydrates. Keep a check on your junk food and fat intake and don’t overdo in these departments.
At your age, it is inevitable that you are quite active, but it is always good to establish a habit of working out every day. They say that bar-dangling games and exercises increase height, but it is not confirmed. Still worth a try! In the end, let me remind you that your aim should be to remain healthy and fit because health gives you real beauty, rather than a certain height or figure.
