I’m sure most of you must be surprised to read the term Pumpkin Lamp, and wonder what a combination a pumpkin and a lamp make? You may ask so. So let’s come to the topic. Today we will learn how to make an attractive and beautiful lamp with a clay pumpkin and a bulb. This pumpkin is nowadays available at all the clay pitcher sellers (matkay wallay). Let’s begin with our interesting invention.
Things you need
* A pumpkin shaped clay pot.
* A 40 watt bulb.
* Oil paints or spray paints (2 colours)
* Wires and bulb holder
Getting Started
Paint the pumpkin and its lid with funky cool colours. I am giving you some ideas. You can paint your pumpkin completely in one colour, and make spots on it with another colour. Red and white, or black and white vertical stripes can also be painted.
The next step is to join the bulb with the wires through the bulb holder. If you have studied “Electricity” in Physics, you can do this task easily. If you still find it difficult, take help from an elder person around. This wire, on the other end will be plugged with the main electricity at the switchboard. Place the bulb inside the pumpkin. You can also cover your bulb with a coloured cellophane sheet to get a coloured light.
Finishing
Keep the pumpkin lamp at your reading table. You can also make two identical lamps for your side tables. Switch off the lights of your room and let the room be completely dark. Now switch on your pumpkin lamp. You will see the light peeping out from the eyes and mouth of your pumpkin!
You can also arrange a “pumpkin lamp party” with your friends in a dark room only with your pumpkin lamp on.
I hope you will enjoy making these pumpkin lamps and having a party with them.
