Hi kids!

So, how’s Ramazan going? For those of you who fast it must be a bit taxing with all the pressure of school and tuitions and the hot weather. But then that is what fasting is — it is sort of a test, a test of your patience and tolerance.

It is important that when you are fasting you should fulfil all the requirements and not just refrain from eating and drinking. You should adopt the Ramazan spirit of sacrifice and subordinating your personal desires. Some children fast just because their friends are fasting; some even pretend to be fasting in front of others and eat when they are alone.

There was this kid who would have ‘sehri’ with the intention to keep a fast but when nobody was around would drink water or eat something, still believing that he was fasting. He probably thought that fasting is only to be maintained as a public posture and is not a religious obligation.

If you do not refrain from cheating, backbiting, lying and other bad habits, you are not following the true spirit of fasting and merely following the form.

So, follow the true spirit of fasting throughout the month of Ramazan, and even after Ramazan is over, try to practise the good habits you acquired in this month. If everyone follows this, ours could be a changed society.

Let’s pray for strength to observe Ramazan and all its commitments.

Have a nice weekend!

Bye!

Ed
