SUVA, Fiji: The wreckage of a World War II US fighter plane was found in a Fiji jungle by a hunter, police said.
The villager from the central highlands of Fiji’s main island of Viti Levu was hunting wild pigs when he stumbled across the wreckage, said police spokesman Mesake Koroi.
Koroi said the wreckage was believed to be from a US Aircobra fighter that took off from Nadi Airport in western Viti Levu in early 1942 and disappeared in the jungle-covered mountains.
The identity of the pilot was not immediately available.—APP
