In the follow-up to the computer animated Shrek, the ugly green ogre, Shrek (Mike Myers), and his less ugly wife, Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz), are invited by Fiona’s parents to their kingdom, Far Far Away. Accompanied by the non-stop chatter, Donkey (Eddie Murphy), the couple journeys to Far Far Away only to find out what Shrek feared. His in-laws are shocked to find an ogre instead of a handsome prince whom they believed had rescued the princess. Things get exceptionally riotous with the King who would by no means accept Shrek as his family.
As the film proceeds we find out that Fairy Godmother wants her son, Prince Charming married to Fiona so he could rule the kingdom. With a cunning plot, Shrek is led away from his wife so that Fairy Godmother’s wicked plan may work.
Shrek 2 is an entertaining comedy full of jokes and music. We are also introduced to Puss In Boots (Antonio Banderas) who is fun to watch. But behind the jokes and humour there is a more serious meaning to the film. Good looks alone cannot confer true love and happiness. Though Shrek is an ugly green ogre, no handsome prince can take his place. Shrek fans would be happy to know that two other sequels are planned for production.
The movie is recommended for anyone who wants a good laugh and fun. A family flick that can be enjoyed by all.
