Mother’s Day is a time to pay tribute to and honour all mothers. It is a time to let your mother know how special she is and how much she means to you.
History and origin
The earliest celebrations of Mother’s Day are associated with the people of ancient Greece who paid homage to Rhea, the Mother of the gods, each spring. A little later in history, during the 1600s, England honoured mothers on “Mothering Sunday,” or the “Mid-Lent-Sunday”, i.e. the fourth Sunday in Lent.
In the US the idea of Mother’s Day was initially proposed by Julia Ward Howe in the year 1872 as a day dedicated to peace. But the credit of raising the commemoration of this day goes to Anna M. Jarvis of Philadelphia. She was very close to her mother and strongly conceived that children should cherish and adore their mothers more while they are alive.
While many countries of the world observe their own Mother’s Day at different times all through the year, there are some countries who celebrate Mother’s Day on the same day as the United States.
Making Mother’s Day a unique one
To fill your mom with the tenderness of your care, you can do anything that helps her relax and realize what a caring and loving family she is blessed with. The best way that I suggest is to pass most of your time with her and make her feel special, specially if you’re not staying with her. Let her have a break while you take the charge of the household chores and other responsibilities without being asked. Be polite with you siblings and act as an obedient teen.
Moreover, you can cook your mom’s favourite meal or bake a chocolate cake for her, prepare a lovely greeting card with a note that says “I love you” along with a special gift. As far as a choice for a gift is concerned, keep in mind that not the price but the feelings in your heart matter since mothers have the ability to sense your sentiments. You can also arrange a party with family, friends and relatives invited or take her to her favourite restaurant. But make sure that she doesn’t get to know about your plans, as a surprise has its own charm.
Importance of a mother
Happy mother’s day to all the wonderful and caring mothers. Those mothers who want their children to achieve and earn a name in the world. Those mothers who spend their lives looking after their children. Those mothers who are ready to sacrifice everything for their children. Those mothers who put down all their happiness and hide their sorrows just for the sake of their children. A joyous and a happy Mother’s Day to all.
Basically Mother’s Day was a British tradition but today it’s being carried out in the whole wide world. This was celebrated for the mothers who lived in the old houses so that their children can spend some happy moments with them and can share their happiness together. But today everyone, whether it is someone who lives far away from the mother or really close, all enjoy and celebrate the day with full fervour.
People celebrate mother’s day in different ways, some give gifts to their mothers, some take them for a long drive, some make their mothers rest and do all the chores themselves, some take them for a lunch or dinner and some try to give them every moment of happiness. Everyone tries to show love, affection and devotion for their mothers.
Even the Holy Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W.) said that: “Paradise lies beneath the feet of the mother.”Kanza Azeemi
Thank you, mother
God could not be everywhere so he created a soul and preserved all of his noble qualities in her and presented this precious gift to all of his creatures. Who could be that person? No one but a mother.
Mother: All love begins and ends here. She is the most wonderful reflection of God ever witnessed. She is the one who is the nearest and dearest to God. A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us; when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavour by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.
My mother: what should I say about her?
God created a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He moulded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see;
God created a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear
mother to me.

My mother is the most magnificent woman I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her. She comforted me and loved me with all of her heart, corrected my mistakes and showed me the right path, believed in my strength and encouraged me at every moment.
She gave me all what she had and even managed to bring me what no body can. She provided me with all the facilities one could ever give. And today is the day to thank that dignified and gracious blessing of God: my mother. I thank my mother for the thousands of nights she woke up for me, for the million tears she shed to save me, for her eyes with love-light shinning and for her heart of purest gold. I thank her for being the one who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take.
She is the beauty of my heart and my heart beats only for her. Mom, today I am here to say, I love you more than my life, you mean the world to me, I worship you just as God, thank you for all you gave to me!K. M.
What I owe my mother
There she’s standing inside the kitchen, cooking the meals you desire, working hard to comfort you, to make you happy to see you smiling. Want a hint? She loves you more than anyone else. Yes. She is the one and only ‘Mother’. All I can say is whatever she has done for us cannot be paid back. Her love is priceless.
When we were helpless infants, she provided us wholeheartedly with food, clothing and protection against many threats; like when you, as toddlers, used to foolishly pry towards plugs and switches she would dart towards you to move you away from them knowing that it would harm you. She provided you with such care and love which you could never return. You couldn’t survive without these provisions.
Something you can do to make her happy...
Remember everyday is Mother’s Day. Her heart is as fragile as glass. Never hurt her feelings. Even a little groan you make when asked to do a favour makes her feel neglected.
She would never tell you she’s hurt. Try not arguing over petty matters. Avoid groaning and making faces. It is also said that Allah doesn’t like us saying uf to our mother.
I would like to end by a famous quotation “Paradise lies beneath your mother’s feet.”Rahat Azhar
