BOOK: Nicola and the Viscount

By Soonha Abro

Here is another romantic novel for all those who love such books. Nicola and the Viscount the story of an orphan girl named Nicola Sparks who belonged to London’s elite class. Nicola’s personality is completely opposite to that of girls belonging to the same class as hers. Her guardian, Lord Blenkenship wants to sell off Nicola’s only home for a large sum but she stubbornly refuses to do it. Her guardian and his friend, Lord Farelly, kidnap her and try and force her to marry Lord Sebastian, Lord Farelly’s son. But she manages to get out of the house, where she had been locked up.

This book presents a love triangle between Nicola, Lord Sebastian and Nathaniel Sheridan. Nicola thinks she had always loved Lord Sebastian and thought that Nathaniel Sheridan was her friend. Lord Sebastian proposes to her to which she agrees and they get engaged. But then Nicola discovers the real reason behind Lord Sebastian’s proposal and breaks her engagement with him.

After that she goes to live with Eleanor Sheridan, her best friend who was the younger sister of Nathaniel Sheridan. Over there, Nathaniel supports her emotionally after her break-up with Lord Sebastian.

She falls in love with him but does not confess it to herself. She only realizes that she loved him when Nathaniel saves her from Lord Farelly, Lord Blenkenship and all the other people who were involved in her kidnapping.

It is a nice, light-hearted love story. But as it is a story about earls and viscounts of England, there are a lot of difficult words in it, though it is quite suited to the story. Some of you might need to keep a dictionary with you while reading this book.
