Aptitude test

Nowadays aptitude tests have replaced the old method for admission into a professional college. So whether it’s MBBS, BE, BBA, MBA, etc. you have to pass the entrance test of the concerned institution, on the basis of which admission is given. In the tests for MBBS and BE the science students are given preference and also a certain portion of the test covers what they have studied before. But when it comes to the tests of BBA and MBA the students belonging to Commerce are not given any preference, neither is there any way to test the students’ knowledge of Commerce. Thus, even the students who have studied Arts and Science are also admitted who don’t even know a word about commerce!

On behalf of all commerce students I request all these institutions to please give preference to commerce students. This will help recruit good MBA students who can serve the country much better.

Someone like you

This is in response to Confused NDS (YW January 17). I was suffering from the same symptoms since the past six months as Confused NDS. Speaking from my experience I would request her not to have an operation as the bone starts to grow again in a month or two. Instead it would be better for her to have a complete course of medicines which includes a nasal spray and some tablets that cost below a thousand rupees. Consult a good ENT specialist, who can give you the right medicines and can solve your problem.

Dirty buses

I want to draw the attention of the authorities as well as the public to the need of cleanliness in buses. Public buses in Karachi are very dirty and passengers care the least for the rules of cleanliness. People travelling by a bus freely strew the bus floor, they even spit just by your side and if anyone tries to check them, he invites harsh words and free blows. Maintaining cleanliness in buses is the duty of every citizen but it is a pity that nobody realizes his duty. People think that they can use a bus as they like only because they have paid the fare.

I request all people travelling by buses to maintain cleanliness. I also request the authorities concerned to take preventive measures to check such practices.

Movies

It goes without saying that movies are creating too many problems and are inducing bad habits and bad behaviour in kids.

It is commonly seen nowadays that children try to fight like the actors of the movies. Due to these movies many incidents have taken place in different parts of the world where children have used weapons.

I guess movies should promote peace and tranquillity rather than war and strife.

Smoking

These days smoking has become a trend among young boys and even some girls. These children want to show that they are cool and live in a modern society. I fail to understand why they want to risk their lives even after knowing the hazards of smoking?

If we assume that they do not understand such problems what about the elders who smoke? Why do they want to risk theirs and others’ lives too? Don’t they know that smoking causes lung cancer as well as other diseases related to the heart. Apart from these diseases there are also other problems such as tooth decay, weakening of the taste buds and pollution in their surroundings. We must have noticed that the people who smoke have blackish lips; similarly their lungs become black because of the harmful ingredients in the cigarette. These people should realize that the people inhaling the smoke from their cigarette are also at great risk of becoming ill. They are creating a life hazard for themselves as well as for others.
