Well done Karachi!

On March 13, the Pak-Indo historic cricket series began in Karachi. The most appreciable part of the whole affair was the superb behaviour of the crowd. Karachiites proved to be the most disciplined crowd and displayed hospitality, cheerfulness not just for their own team but for the Indians too. They proved to the world that there was no security risk in Karachi and the teams who opted not to play here were wrong. They acted in a very responsible and civilized manner. Even Captain Saurav Ganguly, Mr Jagmohan Dalmiya (president of control for cricket in India) were highly appreciative of the crowd and called it one of the most orderly crowds he has ever seen anywhere in world.

It is good to see that the citizens of this city have been able to put their city back on the International stage. Congratulations Karachi!

The new railway station

I would like to convey this message to the concerned authorities that the new railway station at cantonment was built by my father Abdul Rashid of MS Baseer & Sons. It was a state of shock as well disappointment for me and my family when the inauguration ceremony was held and my father’s name wasn’t mentioned anywhere. It’s shocking and shameful that the person who worked day and night to build this marvellous piece, was nowhere in sight when the project was inaugurated. I would like the authorities to look into this matter.

Use of electronic media

We are living in the electronic age. Various electronic items have become an integral part of our day-to-day life. Where as items like the TV are mainly used for entertainment, the computer has become a close companion of man at his work place. There are perhaps only a few jobs where the computer cannot help us. So virtually, our age is the Age of Computers. It is imperative, therefore, that the young children should be well acquainted with computers and their use in common activities of daily life.
