Siddique was a fifteen-year-old boy, living with his mother in a small village. Siddique’s father had died in an accident, when he was just twelve years old. He was the eldest among five children, and also was the only bread winner of his family at that young age. Siddique was too ingenuous and adored his mother, as he never refused his mother’s wishes.
Siddique was working in a small ice factory. He had been regularly bullied by some haughty boys on his way to work. Although Siddique wanted to pay back the boys in the same coin, he was reluctant to do so, as he was afraid of his mom and the repercussions of this incident.
One day Siddique was on his way to work, as usual a haughty boy intercepted him and began to tease him. That day Siddique could not control his emotions and began to beat the boy atrociously. By the time some shopkeepers came to intervene, Siddique had beaten the boy severely. Now Siddique was worried by the thought of the repercussions that his mother would have to face.
When he returned home at night, his mother already knew the whole incident. To Siddique’s surprise his mother thoroughly appreciated him for the courageous act and told him to set the ball rolling indeed.
She adored her son and if anyone in the village breathed a word against him, then it was almost intolerable for her. But she was oblivious of the looming danger that her enthusiastic appreciation would lead her son into.
Now Siddique had been pretty happy that on his way to work, rather in the whole village no one would dare to harm him. From that day Siddique began to beat and tease the teenagers of village without any reason. The entire village was unhappy with Siddique’s behaviour and few imminent villagers went to his mother and begged her to take notice of her son’s attitude.
His mother had always advocated her son and that day she did not even bother to talk to her son rather than scolding him. The negligence by his mother led Siddique’s behaviour to become worse.
Teasing and beating the teenagers was just the tip of the iceberg as Siddique had now started to loot and plunder the villagers. Now the mother realized the consequences of the negligence, but it was too late. One day Siddique strangled a villager to death and looted his expensive goods, at last Siddique was brought to justice and there was substantial evidence to prove him guilty. The villagers decided to hang him in the heart of village in front of the villagers.
Before his execution, Siddique realized something that was very important and expressed his sentiment publicly, he said, “If her mother had nipped the evil in the bud from the very beginning rather than egged him on then he would not been executed today”.
