Discrimination? This is to make you aware of a very important issue. We are the Intermediate students of Punjab Board; the problem is that our new paper pattern is not the same as that of the Federal Board. We have compared both the model papers and found that the Federal board paper is a piece of cake compared to the Punjab Board paper.
First of all, the Federal Board paper gives the students a choice in almost everything ... whereas the Punjab Board paper is void of any choice. Can you believe that? They showed us no mercy.
Secondly, the Federal Board model paper had given hidden but helpful hints to two or three questions in the question paper!
Thirdly, Punjab Board paper is mostly objective whereas the Federal Board paper is subjective, and believe me that the subjective part is much more easier.
The point is that when the books and the syllabus is the same, then why the difference in the paper pattern? This is height of unfairness, I would say. I demand that both boards have at least the same paper pattern if not the same paper, to make the competition healthy and fair. Students of Intermediate Punjab Board
Government schools I would like to draw the attention of the government to the condition of government schools. The condition of these schools is extremely bad as the teachers, teaching in these schools are not properly educated themselves. I was dismayed to see that the teachers don’t even take their classes, so then what does the government pay them for? It’s the government’s responsibility to make sure that the teachers take their classes regularly. Sana Kamran, Karachi
Education for all EDUCATION for all means education for every person: man, woman, girl and boy. Education is a step towards success and a better future. In an Islamic society men and women both have been given equal rights. Our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon him) said, “seeking of knowledge is the duty of every Muslim man and woman”.
On another occasion he said, “seek knowledge even if it be in China”. But even today, a large number of people ignore the education of girls and only take interest in educating their boys. In Islam, education is for all. There is a great need to educate our girls as only an educated woman can look after her family well. Maryam Riaz, Peshawar
Tributes to legends of Pakistan Some months ago, I had a chance to see a programme in which tribute was paid to Mehdi Hasan. Similarly, a tribute was paid to Waheed Murad. But that shouldn’t be all. Our nation needs to pay tribute to not only these but many others, who had served this nation in good and bad times in other disciplines as well. It would be an honour and pride for us and these legends if they get their accolade for life-time achievement in their life.
I request the Pakistani media, both private and government channels, to organize such programmes for these luminaries of Pakistan and let the world know that we care and honour those who have brought us honours. Sidra Rafique, Karachi
Bad effects of war WAR is not good for any nation. It is terrible. War destroys many things. If we look into the past we would know that war has a negative impact on the whole world. Today the world is in the midst of an atomic race. Almost every country in the world wants to be a big nuclear power. Most countries have acquired weapons of mass destruction. It is a nuclear era. Now war will be a nuclear war and will destroy everything. So we can say with surety that war is destruction personified. I would like to request all the countries of the world to avoid war and save the world. Azra Naz, Karachi
