POETS CORNER

Alwida alwida, Shehre Ramazan
It’s over, the month of Ramazan
What blessings it brought,
To strengthen our souls,
Give peace and harmony,
To body and mind,
It’s over, it’s over, the month of Ramazan.
The great nights are gone,
Lighting the mercy of God,
Who gave us the Lailatul-Qadr,
The greatest of all night.
It’s over, it’s over, the month of Ramazan.
The blessings of fasting,
Testing appetites for the only one,
Who gave us everything in it,
The month of forgiveness is gone.
It’s over, it’s over, the month of Ramazan.
How sad it is to watch it go,
O God! bless us with another one,
The month of blessings, Ramazan,
Alwida Alwida, Shehre Ramazan.

Sara Iqbal, 16 years, Karachi

Eid is here at last
Eid is here at last
We end the month of fast
Buy presents for each child.
We go so happy that we are wild.
The new moon is here.
So everyone will cheer.
Families get together today.
At the mosque and at home
Muslims will pray.
Seeing relatives everywhere.
Over here, over there.
Give some money to the poor.
Happiness comes through our door.
I’ve got a new teddy bear.
With my friends I will share.
For a moment think of all the people out there.
They are in poverty so we really must care.
Think of a bird, think of a feather.
Allah creates these things and
He is loving forever.
Eid is here! Eid is here!
There is no problem that we should fear.
We will have fun.
Let’s play in the sun.
Now we are tired because we have had a long day.
Tomorrow again we will play.
Dream about things.
Like flying high with golden wings.
Eid Mubarak!

What is love?
Some think that love is life
But love is not life
I think love is ...
“A land of sorrows
ocean of tears
valley of death
end of life.”

Abbas Ali Shahani, Ghotki

Teachers
There are some precious lives,
That put all their efforts,
To spread the light of knowledge,
To make the world a better place.
The greatest personalities of the world,
Claim to have someone’s guidance,
That enlightened their soul with knowledge,
And lead towards success and prosperity.
Behind every successful man,
There is a hand of a teacher,
That guides towards the right path,
The path of knowledge and wisdom.
Due to the remarkable services of teachers,
They are said to be the second parents,
Undoubtedly, they are the leaders,
Of the present and the future.
Paying respect to the teachers,
Is one of our main objectives,
As those who don’t respect them,
Can never achieve their ambition!
May Almighty open the doors to heaven,
For these noble creatures,
That play really a major role,
In building up of a strong nation!

Love
What is Love?
Love is Life Love is friendship
Love is the smell of colourful flowers
Love is the precious stone
Love is the second name of God
Love is the form of sacrifice
Love is something uncomfortable
Love is caring of your friends
Love is sharing of your problems
I think love is everything
And everything is fair in Love.

Saher Jafrani, Hyderabad

A light in darkness
In the whole world,
There was a dark night
No one was there,
Who was right.
In the whole world
At that time,
In every tribe,
The thing in common was crime.
Illiteracy was the rule
Rather than exception
Every one was a scoundrel
Proud of corruption
At that time,
A gift was given by God
That was to put
Everything right, which was odd.
That gift was our Prophet (SAW)
The beautiful, the sublime.
And the era ended,
Which was full of crime
There is no example found
Of his manners; he’s the great
He is most lovable to us
The kind the affectionate.

Muhammad Tayyab Hanif, 16 years, Rawalpindi

Mother
My mother is nice
She like to eat rice
She is a house wife
She is very polite
No one measures her height
She takes good care
Of far and near
She has small teeth
And very big feet.

Fatima Mehdi, 7 years, Lahore
