Poet's Corner

When it rains

Rain is to be admired
Rain is to be enjoyed
Rain is a gift of God
Which brings a lot of happiness
Rain cleans all the pollution
With roads, streets and plants
It is good for crops
Which makes us grow
It finishes the humidity
And gives us pleasant weather
It damages poor people’s huts
Which are made out of mud
It makes people wet
Who sleep on the footpaths
Many people die because of rain
Many animals die because of rain
Trees fall down on people or on cars
Too much rain is also bad for crops
Dams, rivers, seas sometimes overflow
Rain is sometimes good and sometimes bad Sometimes cheerful, sometimes sad
But sometimes it is not that bad!

On rainy nights

On rainy nights when I’m tucked into my bed
Dreamy thoughts go through my head.
I hear the patter of the clouds, and look!
My bed becomes a plane!
It whizzes out the window
And soars above the trees.
I wave all the passing birds,
The butterfly, and honeybee.
The earth below looks very small;
I cannot see my house at all.
The places where I always play
Are tiny dots from far away.
I journey past the stars and the moon
Till morning comes and then,
My plane flies back to my room,
And becomes my bed again.

A rainy day

When it is a rainy day,
We all often say,
It is bad for people who have flu,
And the sky is all dark blue,
The water is all around,
The thunder makes a frightening noise
All the birds are in their nest,
And having a nice rest,
People peep from their windows,
As the rainy wind blows,
The children are out at play,
And all the mothers say,
You will catch flu,
Tomorrow you have the school,
And this is how I say,
I spent my rainy day.

Rain

Ah what a lovely season it is!
I cried with excitement and glee
As drops of rain trickled over my cheek
I wondered what would it be without rain
The wish to have pakoras would be in vain
No ripe juicy fruits to eat
No natural nourishment for plants
No beautiful scenery to enjoy
Which is a wish of every boy
Ah! how lucky we are
To have such a great blessing.

When I go outside

When I go outside
I see the lovely flowers
When I go to the countryside
I see the baby animals
Now I know that spring is here
Let’s all shout Hurray!

Moon

The Moon is a lightning star
But it is much too far
It shines bright
But its colour is white
It reflects from the sun
But children play in moonlight with fun
Its light is creating tides
And people are walking at sea sides
It has a beautiful view,
To see a moon, stand at sea view.

Things I hate

Things that I hate,
How do I tell you my friend?
When I fail in tests
Mommy knows that I can’t pretend
I get a good beating from her
And a scolding from Dad
Oh, how I hate turning overnight
From good to bad
Whenever I fall sick
I have to visit clinics
Oh, how I hate the doctor
When that injection he pricks.

School

School is a place where we study
Some playgrounds in it are muddy
Some teachers teach us history
But as you know it is a mystery
My English teacher is very nice
She always give me a surprise
Maths is a little bit difficult
Sometimes I have a bad result
School is a place where we study
Some playgrounds in it are muddy.

Days by the sea

Sea crashes over rocks
And runs across the strands
And when it trickles back
It leaves my footprints, in the sand
When I’ve built a lovely castle
With my bucket and my spade
Back comes the water
To break up all I’ve made
There are shells in my bucket
And fish in the sea
And time to watch the sailing boats
Before we have out feat
Tomorrow if the sun shines
We’ll be back for more
To swim and pall and to play
On the sandy sea shore.
