With the Internet mushrooming and burgeoning into an ineluctable accessory of the modern life, it’s little wonder that Internet has become the focal point for Hollywood directors. Fear dot com, deals with the overpowering influence that the Internet can garner over our lives.
New York City witnesses four enigmatic and inexplicable deaths. The nexus connecting the deceased is that they all logged onto a website feardotcom.com and within 48 hours none of them lived to tell the tale.
Detective Mike Reilly (Stephen Dorff) and Department of Health associate Terry Huston (Natascha McElhone) decide to probe into the deaths.
Encountering little success and desperate to break the deadlock, they log on to the website and unleash the doom upon themselves. Not the smartest move to pull, but nonetheless it inches them closer to exposition of the mystery.
But can they stay alive long enough to unearth the answers? Find out!
Frankly, the movie is not that impressive and evolves into a dissipation of time. The plot is far from perfect; in fact it is ludicrously disfigured.
Hitherto, it is hard to believe that a website can actually be more than a website. I mean, can a website actually orchestrate a stimulating attack on the electromagnetic impulses of the mind? I think not! The concept is therefore new, but the development of the plot and the overall impact fails to impress. Fear dot com, is just an average Hollywood film. Watch Fear dot com at your risk and trust me, you won’t be fawning for a second viewing.
